Welcome to Simply Vee Diaries. An online space where I share my journey towards a slower, simpler life.

Who am I?

Oh hello there friend, I’m Vee. I live in what I like to call, The Fairytale Cottage. I definitely don’t live in a seaside cottage in Scotland where I pretend to be when I’m living my day-to-day life at the cottage, but I try my best to find beautiful places in nature where I can around here in Oklahoma.

I definitely follow what lights me up, so you can often find me doing things like:

  • Exploring different lakes and state parks with my family of 6 (sometimes 7 or 8) and my Siberian Husky, Freyja.

  • Spending a cozy day in my cottage kitchen, testing out new recipes for our future bakery.

  • Grabbing my camera and setting up different fairytale photoshoots to practice with, in Photoshop. Fun little tidbit about me: I was 18 when I got my first job as an assistant to a wedding photographer. I never did much with my photography skills because I suffered from major imposter syndrome, never feeling like my photos were good enough. I’m now 41 and just barely playing around with finding my own signature style. Better late than never I guess. ♡

  • Going to every Renaissance Festival I can possibly go to. Any fellow Rennies out there?

I’ve also been known to disappear in a good book quite often. All in all, I’m a slow-living enthusiast and I’m here to share my journey (and lessons learned) with all of you.

What is Simply Vee Diaries and why subscribe?

I started this Substack to share my journey (as I learn to live a slower, simpler life) in a place where it felt quieter to share my voice in a more intimate way because let’s face it, social media can be extremely loud and… overwhelming. 🙈

I think you’ll agree, Substack is brilliant for that and so much easier to use than spaces driven by algorithms and vanity metrics. This algorithm-free space allows me to share what’s on my heart, from days spent at the lake and book recommendations to those slow ordinary moments of everyday life.

As time goes on, I find myself less and less attracted to getting on spaces like Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat, and even Instagram (although I am really loving Threads at the moment).

Soon, I will no longer be on these platforms and Substack, YouTube, and Threads will be the only spaces I will be on anymore.

  • Substack allows me to share everything that’s on my heart, all in one place.

  • YouTube is my creative outlet where I get to play with my love of photography and transform it into cinematography, as well as create beautiful memories my family and I can look back on.

  • And Threads is quickly becoming my favorite way to connect with new people and make new friends along the way. :) If you’d like to join me there, I’d love to chat!

I will no longer try to be everywhere and do all the things because quite honestly, I don’t want to. I’m ready to embrace a slower life and share my journey along the way.

The Tucks lived in a way the rest of the world had forgotten. They were never in a hurry and did things the slow way. For the first time, Winnie felt free to explore, to ask questions, to play. - Tuck Everlasting

So to answer the question, why subscribe? Well, if you also resonate with the quote above, and you’re ready to do things the slower way, to explore, to ask questions, to play, then I invite you to join me on this journey toward a slower, simpler, more beautiful life. ♡

A hub for mindful living

Here on Substack, I’ll be creating weekly prompts meant to help us all live a slower, simpler, more mindful life. These prompts will range from slow living to decluttering your space (because mess = stress) and everything in between.

How Substack Works - Paywalls and Free Posts

Every new piece of writing goes directly to your inbox. Or you can turn off emails and download the Substack app to read and interact there.

What’s Free for Everyone?

I write four FREE emails per month in letters I like to call, ‘The Slow-Lived Life’. This is where I share the weekly slow living prompts everyone can join in on.

I also share a 10-20 minute (or so) vlog at the end of each month called, ‘Along the Way’. This is a video I publish with my family where we share some of the beautiful memories we created as a family, as well as finding beauty in the mundane, everyday tasks along the way.

Paid options

Substack offers us creatives and stay-at-home moms alike, a chance to make a living by offering bonus content behind the paywall, so I host my membership here.

There are two options - to support me as a founding member for $99; this is the only option that includes access to the Slow Living Google Calendar, where you’ll find 365 slow living bucket list prompts to kickstart your way into a slower, simpler life.

Here’s a little glimpse into what the calendar looks like

.

Or pay $5 each month (or save 50% at $30 annually) to receive all my future and archived pay-walled content today! All my slow-living challenges are hosted here (these are the main attraction of the membership), any printable I create is shared here, and all my videos, vlogs, and basically anything I create are all here (with the exception of the Google Calendar).
